Franka Research 3 (FR3) is the seventh-generation force-sensitive robot arm by Franka Robotics, engineered and manufactured in Germany. It offers 7 degrees of freedom, 855 mm reach, 3 kg payload, and position repeatability below ±0.1 mm. Each joint has an integrated torque sensor enabling precise force control and intuitive hand-guiding.
The Franka Control Interface (FCI) provides low-level real-time control at 1 kHz: torque, position, and velocity commands in joint and Cartesian space. FR3 integrates with ROS 2, MATLAB, and Simulink. Workspace efficiency is 94.5%. FR3 is widely used in embodied AI research, imitation learning, and force control.
