Geminoid HI-6
Intelligent Robotics Laboratory (Ishiguro Lab)
Geminoid HI-6 is the sixth android in the Geminoid series developed at the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory of The University of Osaka. The robot physically resembles Prof. Hiroshi Ishiguro — creator of the series — with realistic skin, facial expressions and upper-body movement.
Unlike earlier generations, Geminoid HI-6 does not operate purely in teleoperation mode. It is integrated with a large language model (LLM) trained on Ishiguro's own publications (about ten books) and his media interviews. As a result it can deliver classes, give lectures and answer student questions in the professor's characteristic style.
The design is a bust — the android is roughly 50 cm tall and 25 cm wide, has no legs and cannot walk. Movement is limited to the head, facial expressions and upper torso. The robot is on display at The University of Osaka.
