Phantom MK-1 is the first production humanoid robot from the American company Foundation Future Industries. According to the manufacturer, the robot stands 1.8 m tall, weighs 80 kg, has 29 degrees of freedom, supports payloads up to 40 kg, and walks at speeds up to 1.7 m/s.
A key design element is Foundation's proprietary cycloidal actuators. The manufacturer specifies peak torque of 160 Nm, back-driving torque below 1 Nm, response time below 10 ms, and rotational speed of 9 rad/s at 48 V (12 rad/s at 72 V). Knee joints exceed 160 Nm of torque, shoulders 119 Nm, and wrists 20 Nm.
Foundation positions Phantom MK-1 as a dual-use platform targeted at industrial and defense applications. The control and AI layer is provided by their proprietary Cortex stack, based on Deep Variational Bayes Filters combined with vision-language models.
