Pony.ai Gen-7 is the seventh generation of the autonomous-driving system and robotaxi platform from Chinese company Pony.ai (NASDAQ: PONY, HKEX: 2026), built around the vehicle-agnostic „Virtual Driver” technology — a full in-house L4 stack integrating software, hardware and services.
Gen-7 vehicles are built entirely from automotive-grade components and designed for a service life of up to 600,000 km. The cost of the autonomous-driving kit has been cut by 70% versus the previous generation (Gen-6). Perception and decision-making run on Pony.ai’s in-house L4 domain controller with four NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin SoCs — the world’s first mass-produced L4 robotaxi domain controller with four Orin chips.
Gen-7 is deployed on partner vehicle platforms including the Toyota bZ4X and GAC AION V. Passenger features include Bluetooth unlocking, in-vehicle voice interaction, online music and pre-trip climate control, while smoother acceleration and braking reduce ride discomfort.
Pony.ai has reached positive unit economics with its Gen-7 fleet in Guangzhou (late 2025) and Shenzhen (March 2026). The fleet grew from 270 to more than 1,400 vehicles, and the company targets over 3,000 robotaxis across 20+ cities by the end of 2026, including international markets (Zagreb, London, Manchester, Singapore, Dubai).
