The UBTECH UWORLD U1 is a full-size, mass-produced humanoid companion robot unveiled by UBTECH Robotics at a global launch event in Shenzhen on 30 June 2026. The company describes it as an “ultra-bionic” humanoid designed for companionship and emotional support at home.
The robot has 88 degrees of freedom, including a proprietary dual-pivot biomimetic cervical spine, and according to the manufacturer replicates up to 90% of fundamental human body movements. It comes in a male version (approx. 183 cm) and a female version (approx. 163–168 cm), covered in silicone skin that mimics human appearance — hair, complexion and facial features — capable of more than 300 composite micro-expressions.
U1 runs an emotion-aware large language model (LLM) with locally encrypted memory, recognises more than 20 fine-grained emotional states with a claimed accuracy above 90%, and holds context-aware, wake-word-free conversations. A “fast-and-slow brain” architecture delivers an intuitive response in about 500 ms plus deeper reasoning, while speech-to-lip synchronisation keeps latency under 20 ms.
The robot moves on flat indoor surfaces and cannot climb stairs or handle rough terrain; runtime is 2–4 hours per charge, with Wi-Fi connectivity. It is offered in three variants — U1 Lite (semi-torso edition), U1 Pro and U1 Ultra — starting at CNY 119,800 (about $16,500). Pre-orders opened on 2 June 2026 on JD.com, with first deliveries scheduled for mid-September 2026.
