The Vermeer PD10 is a pile driver built for utility-scale solar farm construction. It installs piles up to 6.1 m (20 ft) long and is made by Vermeer Corporation of Pella, Iowa (USA). The machine is operated from its station using precise ground-drive control.
It is powered by a 4-cylinder Deutz D 2.9 L4 diesel engine (Tier 4 Final emissions) rated at 49 hp (36.5 kW). Operating weight ranges from 6,411 kg (10 ft / 3 m mast) to 7,248 kg (20 ft / 6.1 m mast), and maximum operating height from 4.5 m to 7.6 m depending on the selected mast (3 m / 4.6 m / 6.1 m). Operating length and width are about 3.1 m.
The hammer delivers up to 950 J of impact energy; the machine handles round piles up to 18.3 cm in diameter (standard opening) and up to 23.6 cm (large opening). Autoplumb automatically moves the mast to a plumb orientation at the touch of a button, reducing out-of-plumb piles, while a laser receiver assists height and angle control.
Machine data flows to the VermeerOne telematics platform (location, engine hours, fuel consumption, diagnostics). Vermeer also offers a PD10R variant with wireless remote control. The PD10 is one of the leading base models that the Xpanner X1 automation kit integrates with, turning the pile driver into an autonomous-ready machine.
