Overview

Grok 4.6 is a Grok-family large language model from xAI, released on 12 August 2026. Compared with Grok 4.5 it emphasizes long-running agents and more ambitious interactive and visual work — it better sustains complex, multi-step tasks (research, analysis, codebase navigation) and produces stronger first passes on visual and interactive projects.

The model underwent extended supplemental training on curated model-generated data, high-quality engineering datasets and improved optimizer recipes; supervised fine-tuning trajectories were regenerated across reasoning, agent harnesses, and domains such as STEM and software engineering. Specialized training covered kernel optimization, web development and CAD environments.

Grok 4.6 provides a 500K-token context window, supports tool use, and is closed-weights — available via API (SpaceXAI API) and on Cursor, Grok Build, OpenRouter, Vercel and Cloudflare. On the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index it scores 61, matching GPT-5.6 Sol.
