American food-tech company (founded 2016, Los Angeles) running ghost kitchens, the Otter platform and the Lab 37 robotics division (the Bowl Builder robot).
CloudKitchens is an American food-tech company headquartered in Los Angeles, founded in 2016 by Diego Berdakin and Sky Dayton; Travis Kalanick (CEO), a co-founder of Uber, took control of the company in 2018. It operates within City Storage Systems (now Atoms, Inc.) and converts underutilized real estate into multi-tenant ghost kitchens — kitchens dedicated to delivery-only operations. Beyond real estate it develops the Otter software platform (handling a significant share of U.S. food-delivery transactions) and the Lab 37 robotics division, whose “Bowl Builder” robot autonomously prepares up to about 200 meals per hour. The company was valued at around USD 15 billion (2021); its investors include Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
