Cognite

Cognite AS is a Norwegian technology company founded in 2016, originating from the Aker ASA industrial group, which remains its majority owner. The company builds Industrial DataOps software — its flagship product is Cognite Data Fusion, a platform that unifies and contextualizes heavy-industry operational data as a foundation for AI. The portfolio also includes Cognite Atlas AI (a low-code industrial AI agent workbench) and Cognite Flows (an AI-native workflow tool). Its co-founders are John Markus Lervik (first CEO, now Chief Development & Strategy Officer) and Geir Engdahl (CTO, AI). Since April 2022 the company has been led by CEO Girish Rishi (formerly CEO of Blue Yonder). Cognite operates globally: its original and legal headquarters are in Oslo, while its Americas corporate headquarters are in Tempe (Phoenix), Arizona; offices also include Austin, Houston, Tokyo and Bengaluru. Cognite's solutions are used in energy (oil & gas, power & grid, renewables) and in process and discrete manufacturing by customers such as Aker BP, Saudi Aramco, TotalEnergies, Statnett and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. In 2021 the company raised $150M in a Series B led by TCV at a $1.6B valuation. On 30 June 2026 Schneider Electric announced an agreement to acquire Cognite for $3.1B; the deal is pending close, with Cognite to be integrated into AVEVA.
