ggml
Founded 2023 · Sofia, Bulgariaggml is an open-source organization developing the ggml tensor library and related projects for efficient AI model inference on commodity hardware. Its key projects are llama.cpp (LLM inference in C/C++), whisper.cpp (speech recognition) and the GGUF file format. The code is released under the MIT license following an open-core model. It was created by Georgi Gerganov, who began work on ggml in September 2022. The supporting company ggml.ai was founded in 2023, received pre-seed funding from Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross, and was acquired by Hugging Face in 2026.
