Kia

Kia Corporation is a South Korean automaker headquartered in Seoul, founded in 1944 as Kyungsung Precision Industry (making bicycle parts and steel tubing). It was successively named Kia Industrial Company and Kia Motors Corporation, adopting the name Kia Corporation in 2021. Kia is a member of Hyundai Motor Group and is listed on the Korea Exchange (000270); Hyundai Motor Company holds about 35% of its shares. Kia makes passenger and commercial vehicles, including electric models (such as the EV6 and EV9). It is also developing its PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) line of dedicated electric utility vehicles; the first production model is the PV5, built at the Autoland Hwaseong plant.
