Okta, Inc. is an American publicly traded company headquartered in San Francisco, founded in 2009 by Todd McKinnon and Frederic Kerrest, both former Salesforce executives. The company provides a cloud-based identity and access management (IAM) platform for both workforce (Workforce Identity Cloud) and end-user / customer identity (Customer Identity Cloud, built on the acquired Auth0 technology). Core products include Single Sign-On, Universal Directory, Adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication, Lifecycle Management and Access Gateway. Okta went public on NASDAQ in 2017 under the ticker OKTA. In May 2021 it closed the acquisition of Auth0 for approximately USD 6.5 billion in stock, integrating it as Customer Identity Cloud.
