Zendesk

Zendesk is an American SaaS company specializing in customer service software. Founded in 2007 in Copenhagen by three Danish entrepreneurs (Mikkel Svane, Alexander Aghassipour, Morten Primdahl), the company later moved its headquarters to San Francisco. Its flagship product is a ticketing and helpdesk system, used by hundreds of thousands of companies — from SMBs to large enterprises including Uber, Shopify and Tesco.

In 2014 the company went public on the NYSE under the ticker ZEN. In 2022 it was acquired by a consortium of private equity firms Permira and Hellman & Friedman for approximately $10.2B and taken private. Since 2023 Zendesk has aggressively expanded its AI portfolio: customer service AI agents, copilots for support teams and workflow automation. In 2024 it acquired Ultimate.ai, one of the leaders in the AI customer service agent market, integrating their technology into the Zendesk AI product.
