GTC Berlin: an AI factory in a container and a reference humanoid

At GTC in Berlin on 21 October, Jensen Huang laid out NVIDIA's European pitch: a modular AI factory in a container called DSX POD, and an expanded open Isaac robotics platform. The connecting theme was time — time to build a data centre, time to deploy a robot.

Key takeaways

  • DSX POD: a prefabricated container with Vera Rubin racks, live in 14 days
  • Agile Robots unveiled the Agile ONE SN reference humanoid on Isaac GR00T
  • The Isaac platform gains an Isaac OS runtime and Isaac Lab 3.0
  • NVIDIA cites more than $300 billion of backlogged power equipment
  • Over 200 GW of projects wait in US interconnection queues

A container instead of a building site

DSX POD arrives assembled, Vera Rubin compute racks already inside, and by Huang's account can be online in 14 days, not months or years. It is a promise cut for Europe, where infrastructure projects move especially slowly.

Faster deployment also shortens the stretch in which bought silicon sits idle, he argued.

To be part of this AI economy, you don't want to just be consuming the AI. You want to be producing the AI. We can do all of that here in Europe.

A humanoid you don't have to assemble

The second pillar: robotics. Agile Robots announced Agile ONE SN, a full-stack reference platform preconfigured with Isaac GR00T, built on Jetson Thor, with planned integration of the Halos safety stack.

NVIDIA Isaac itself gains an Isaac OS runtime: the layer that launches and operates a robot's software on the target hardware and NVIDIA Isaac Lab 3.0. In Huang's words, "the ChatGPT moment for robotics is fast approaching".

Power, not silicon

Chips have stopped being the bottleneck. NVIDIA points to $300 billion-plus of backlogged power equipment and over 200 GW of projects queued for US grid connection: an operator's permission to plug a new facility into the power network, often granted only after a long wait. Its answer is the DSX platform, which simulates the grid, the substation and the compute hall together and syncs power draw with grid conditions.

Why it matters

The prefab admits the limit is no longer chip production but concrete, permits and grid connections. Selling an AI factory as a container shifts competition from single-GPU performance to time from order to first token. In robotics the logic repeats: a ready reference humanoid sets the standard before European makers build their own.

What's next

  • The reference robot is due in Q1 2027, per WIRED's keynote report
  • NVIDIA announced VW and Mercedes partnerships on autonomous vehicles
  • European robotics firms building on Isaac include ABB Robotics and NEURA Robotics
