GrayMatter Robotics Inc. is an American industrial-robotics startup headquartered in Carson, California (2226 E 223rd St., Carson, CA 90810), founded in 2020 by four co-founders: Ariyan Kabir (current CEO), Brual Shah, Sangam Pant, and Satyandra K. Gupta (a robotics professor). The company develops the Factory SuperIntelligence Physical AI platform with its proprietary GMR-AI model stack, trained on an in-house multi-modal manufacturing process dataset. Its primary application is automation of surface treatment (sanding, grinding, buffing, polishing, blasting, coating) and inspection in industry. GrayMatter offers solutions through a subscription model (Robotics-as-a-Service) covering hardware, software, training, and 24/7 support, eliminating much of the CapEx of traditional industrial automation deployments. The company is private (Series B), has raised USD 69.1M in funding (Wellington, Stage Venture Partners, Calibrate Ventures per Tracxn), and employs around 124 people (PitchBook). On April 6, 2026, GrayMatter signed an MOU with HII (NYSE: HII) to integrate its Physical AI into shipbuilding operations.
