Nidec-Shimpo ABLE is a series of precision planetary gearboxes from Nidec-Shimpo (Japan/USA). Designed for direct mounting to servo motors via adapter -- wide compatibility with major brands (Yaskawa, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Fanuc, Siemens). Steel or aluminum housing, hardened planetary gears, full-tolerance hubs.
Available single-stage ratios: 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 7:1, 10:1. Double stage: up to 200:1. Backlash: <=3 arc-min (standard) or <=1 arc-min (zero-backlash version). Efficiency: >=97% (stage 1), >=94% (stage 2). Output torque up to 100 Nm (size ABLEW060). Inline and right-angle 90 degree configurations available.
The ABLE series is popular in pick-and-place, SCARA robots, CNC linear axes, packaging machines, and medical devices. Notable for sealed housing (IP65 optional), low moment of inertia, and long bearing life.

Which group Nidec-Shimpo ABLE belongs to and how it is built
This subcategory covers components responsible for highly accurate torque transmission and speed reduction in robots, manipulators, and joint modules.
A planetary gearbox is a mechanical transmission that uses a planetary gear arrangement to achieve high gear ratios within a compact form factor. In robotics, it is commonly used in axis drives, manipulators, mobile modules, and actuator assemblies where high torque is required in constrained mounting spaces. Planetary gearboxes are valued for their power density, rigidity, and compactness.
