The ODrive S1 is a compact single-axis BLDC and PMSM motor controller designed by ODrive Robotics. It enables precise torque, velocity, position, and trajectory control. Features an onboard MA702 magnetic encoder and dual absolute encoder support for instant cold starts.
The controller operates at 12–48 V (max 50.5 V) and delivers 40 A continuous current (with heatspreader). Communication interfaces include CAN 2.0B (1 Mbps), CAN-FD (5 Mbps, experimental), USB, isolated UART, isolated STEP/DIR, analog voltage, and PWM. Software architecture is shared with ODrive Pro.
Board dimensions are 66 × 50 mm, weight 35 g (without screw terminals) or 55 g (with screw terminals). Built-in brake resistor chopper manages braking energy. PWM frequency is 24 kHz; control loop runs at 8 kHz.

Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) · serves as: Motor Control, Closed-Loop Drive Control.
