The Tesla Cybercab is a two-passenger, fully autonomous electric robotaxi designed exclusively for driverless operation. It has no steering wheel, pedals, side mirrors or rear window; its two butterfly doors open automatically and have no handles. It was unveiled on 10 October 2024 at the "We, Robot" event at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank.
Autonomous driving relies solely on cameras (Full Self-Driving), without the lidar and radar used by competing robotaxis. The Cybercab runs FSD v15 (unsupervised) on a modified version of Hardware 4. It uses a single front-axle motor, and an ~48 kWh battery (4680 cells) gives an estimated ~293 mi (472 km) range (EPA preliminary). Curb weight is about 1,412 kg.
At the unveiling Tesla announced inductive (wireless, plug-free) charging as the fleet's intended method; production units use a concealed NACS port for DC fast charging. Production began in 2026 at Gigafactory Texas, and the first paid rides started in Austin in September 2026. Tesla indicated a sub-$30,000 price.
