Dynamic Calibration (DynamicCalibration) is a self-healing, on-device recalibration tool built into Luxonis' DepthAI 3.0. It lets stereo depth cameras automatically monitor and restore their stereo extrinsic calibration, keeping depth accuracy stable over time even after thermal shifts, mechanical shocks, or mounting changes degrade the factory alignment.
It runs continuously or via manual triggers and exposes ON_START and CONTINUOUS automatic modes. Recalibration uses live stereo input in natural, feature-rich scenes and needs no special calibration targets, typically completing in seconds. It also provides calibration health monitoring and extended workflows for multi-sensor and FFC layouts, including socket-keyed per-camera diagnostics.
The feature ships inside the depthai-core library and supports all stereo cameras running DepthAI 3.0 (including OAK-D, OAK-D-Lite, OAK-D Pro, and CM4 PoE). It can be tried with no code in OAK Viewer, available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
A Developer Tool is software designed to support the development workflow, including configuration, debugging, testing, monitoring, validation, and integration of robotic and embedded systems. Examples include IDE plugins, visual debuggers, log analysers, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test harnesses, and code-generation utilities specific to robotics platforms.
